This sign is next to an entrance way that was built in 1910 and leads to a concession stand building that was a small casino in the early 1900's. The park has an amusment ride area, a kiddie land, a famous Carousel with Flying Horses, pony rides, tennis courts, golf course, driving range, a stadium, museum, small boat rentals, scout island and dozens of ball fields. |

This is the "1979 Penny" tree (see below), it is along side of Bayou St. John (background) which goes north-south through the park for about 1 mile. There are dozens of trees along this bayou. They had water ski jump contest, soap box derby races, picnics, lovers lane, and other events for years here. This is my partner and my GTA 1000, he has a GTA 350 nearby he finds treasure with that I found plenty with, I upgraded. |
Another view of the bayou, my son feeds the ducks and geese, he found fishing lures, and 13 golf balls just eyeballing. |

Long trees like this are always good for a few coins that fell out of pockets from climbers over the years. |
This days TH'ing finds from City Park, New Orleans. We had perfect weather, and the ground was damp! Any day with silver is a great day! I got one wheatie, a 1942d Merc., a 1941 Quarter and lots of clad coins! The fifteen pennies lined up are all from 1979 and they just kept coming up from the same hole, that was fun! So was the Mustang! Keys, fishing sinkers and bullets are all normal park bayou side finds, so are aluminum Mardi Gras Doubloons, thats what the big coin is! A few of the coins have lawnmower hits, All were found with my Garrett GTA 1000 PM, I set the depth at 10 today, threshold at 8, and I use the system headphones.
