New York " Tree " Treasure Map

I will post any opinions and updates on this page that viewers may submit about this map. It appears to be a triangulation type map (means with any two points you can easily find the third), with several pairs of marker trees or stones at the apex and right line. I think #3 (top) is the target. There are clear vara marks (paces) that come off of the trail or the map tree at the bottom. This measurement could also be the distance of this hand carved map to the base of the tree. This trail goes uphill in this photo. It appears the map tree is the circle at the lower left, and the top of the map is probably the top of this hill too. I feel the above image is also a treasure, someone went to a lot of trouble to create this. From the bark growth maybe someone has an idea of the age? |
Can you
tell me which county this thing is in?
Thanks,
