Messages In Bottles
Many times I have been blessed with gifts from the sea, but nothing compares to the thrill of finding actual messages in bottles from real people that would actually take a chance and do something so bold! I have Three!
I will unveil them on the "net" right here for the world and hopefully the original message sailors to see! One had a short journey from somewhere near the Twin bridges on I-10 near Slidell, La. where someone was fishing or spending time with a child in the summertime in 1983! The second actually came all the way across the Gulf of Mexico from the East Coast of Florida, then passed Rabbit Island and up the Rigolets 5 miles to the marsh on the banks of Lake Pontchartrain! It left "Gulf Winds Park" and those very winds delivered this message! The first two had screw on tops corroded so tight that I broke the glass bottle to get inside, the third, Tropical Storm "Earl" blew ashore in a plastic spring water bottle.

They have survived heat and cold, waves and humidity and 2 are in fragile but readable shape and I have kept them flat in a Drafting Pack of Crystalene drawing graph paper! Anne's map clearly shows the I-10 bridge over Lake Pontchartrain! All are Very Real Treasures! Click on #3 above for the story of the sailboat and the lady that launched it!
